Reid Health Perioperative Clinic
More than 35 million people have surgery in the U.S. each year. Most do fine, but some develop complications after their surgery that are often related to other underlying health conditions.
The Reid Perioperative Clinic uses the latest medical research to help us identify patients more at risk for complications and work to prevent most of the potential complications.
Reid Health is among a few leading systems in the nation that have created these specialized clinics to evaluate patients before surgery. Our clinic model is based on the latest science and best practices established at hospitals like the Cleveland Clinic and the Mayo Clinic.
Your surgeon believes you can benefit from a referral to our clinic. Our process will involve an evaluation designed to reduce your risks.
If you’ve had surgery previously, it is likely that this new process will be different from what you’ve experienced before — but it is all aimed at taking proven steps to ensure your surgery is successful.
What to expect:
- Clinic physicians and nurses may ask more questions to help us to better understand all potential risks.
- Labs and other testing may be different based on new tools to determine exactly what tests you need.
- You will be asked detailed questions about how well you function at home (walking, bathing, housecleaning, etc.). These help us understand and anticipate your needs before and after you leave the hospital.
- We will communicate frequently with your Primary Care Physician and your Surgeon to keep them “in the loop” on everything that is happening with you.
The physicians, nurses and staff at Reid Health are committed to making sure your surgery is as safe as possible so you get the best results. If you have any questions about the process, or if you have ideas on how we can make our processes better, please call: (765) 935-8454.
PLEASE NOTE! The Perioperative Clinic is open in its new space on the first floor of the Reid Health Medical Office Building on Reid Health’s main campus at 1050 Reid Parkway.
