Reid surgery team joins ‘Time Out’ for safety
Surgery team celebrates safety.
The entire Reid Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy (ROSE) team had a "Time Out" this week - but they weren't in trouble.
The staff joined in the
national "Time Out Day" to celebrate safety, raise awareness and recommit to
always making patient safety the first priority. "National Time Out Day is
about raising awareness for staff and ensuring a culture of safety in surgery,"
"We are committed to avoiding surgical errors such as wrong-site or wrong procedures," says Abby Strong, RN, Cardiothoracic Clinical Resource Nurse. "The celebration presented us an opportunity to recognize the critical safety steps in the surgery process."
Signs were posted at each scrub sink and nursing documentation stations to serve as a continual reminder to the commitment to patients. "We also celebrated and reminded ourselves of our commitment to be the best patient advocates we can be."
Party favors, donuts and
cake were included in the celebration.
This June 12 was the 15th anniversary of the celebrating by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
