Cancer CenterFor Patients & Visitors
Part of what makes Reid Cancer Center special is our team’s commitment to caring for the whole person, not just their cancer. That’s why we go above and beyond with services that help support the healing process physically, emotionally and spiritually. Services such as massage and rehabilitation therapy . . . nutrition services . . . and home care. Reid also offers convenient, flexible payment options to ease some of the stress that accompany cancer treatment. And Cancer Navigators to help guide the recovery process every step of the way.
Support Services
Cancer Navigators
When patients are diagnosed with cancer, they often feel overwhelmed and find it difficult to process information about their illness. At Reid Cancer Center, our cancer navigators can help. These caring nurses provide support for patients and their families throughout every phase of treatment at no additional cost.
Some patients rely heavily on their cancer navigator, while others call only occasionally for help. Whatever your needs, the cancer navigators are there to help.
Hospice Services
Reid Hospice provides care and support for terminally ill patients and their families. Services are available both in the home and on the inpatient hospice unit at Reid Hospital.
Hospice care can include medical services, emotional support and spiritual encouragement for patients and families. Our staff also helps family members manage the practical details and emotional challenges of caring for someone with a terminal illness.
Nutrition Services
Nutrition is an important aspect of every cancer patient’s care. Good nutrition strengthens the immune system, which can promote healing after surgery, minimize side effects from cancer treatment and even reverse damage caused by chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatments.
The Nutrition Services team at Reid Hospital is here to help. Our dietitians work closely with patients to set goals, identify issues and create a nutrition plan.
Patient Financial Assistance
If you are uninsured or facing financial challenges, please let us know. You might qualify for Medicaid or the Healthy Indiana Plan. Reid Hospital also provides a Patient Assistance Program for those who qualify based on income limits. Our staff can review your situation and help determine your eligibility. Likewise, Reid offers catastrophic assistance based on the amount owed relative to your income.
In addition, your Cancer Navigator can put you in touch with a number of community resources that provide free or reduced-cost services for patients. These services include transportation to doctor appointments, medication assistance, caregiver support and much more.
Pharmacy Services
The new Reid Cancer Center Pharmacy located inside the outpatient clinic in the Cancer Center is part of Reid Hospital’s strong tradition of excellence in patient care.
In addition to preparing chemotherapy and IV infusions, the staff at the Cancer Center Pharmacy is there to answer questions and educate patients. Reid also has a discharge prescription service where discharge prescriptions are filled and delivered to the patient right at the bedside.
Rehabilitation Therapy
Physical, occupational, speech therapy, and scar management can help cancer patients address a variety of health concerns during and after their course of treatment. Therapy can begin during hospitalization and continue at Reid’s state-of-the-art outpatient rehab facility, located at 2021 Chester Blvd. The facility features an easy-entry therapy pool with an underwater treadmill and adjustable flow resistance, Cybex weight machines, Ivanko weights and a new dynamic unweighting system.
Reid Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Many women seek breast reconstruction after undergoing a mastectomy or, in some cases, lumpectomy (surgery to remove a lump in the breast). Breast reconstruction can help restore confidence and femininity, as well as make life easier.

Spiritual Support
Spirituality plays an important role in the lives of many cancer patients, helping them find strength along the way. To support these patients and their families, Reid Hospital chaplains are available during a hospitalization to offer emotional and spiritual encouragement. Chaplains also are part of the Hospice team, providing spiritual care for both inpatients and those receiving care at home. Such support is available to people of all faiths.
Visitors and patients are welcome to stop by the Golay Chapel, a beautiful, quiet place for prayer and reflection. It is located on the second floor of the hospital and open 24 hours a day.
