I always had a love for science, so when I
began undergraduate studies I started as an
architectural engineer. After about two years,
I realized I wanted to go into a profession that
used my interest in science in way I could
help people more directly. So I changed my
major to pre-med. My rotations in medical
school made it clear to me that people
struggled the most with some emotional
component of their lives - even with physical
illness - so I started my journey into a field
that involves helping others come to terms
with the emotional challenges of life. I began
practicing as a psychiatrist in 1994.
My wife and I have two sons. We make our
home in Loveland, Ohio, so I can be close to
my extended family, including my father who
was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I wanted to
be available to assist in his care.
My activities outside of work include weightlifting, biking, hiking, eating, music, reading
and game theory - I love a good game of
Texas Hold'em.
