Cliff McDaniel earned his bachelor's degree in social work from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, and his master's degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He has experience helping clients with addiction, grief, and trauma, and spent five years at a private hospital in Rockville, Indiana, counseling residents with schizophrenia.
Cliff writes humorous essays and moral-of-the-story parables about paradox, irony, and the acceptance of pain. He enjoys reading about history, religion, and psychology. He also enjoys old farm tractors, listening to an audio version of the Bible, and collecting quotes. His favorite is from Sojourner Truth: "One is not necessarily born with courage but one is born with potential."
"I know how to do things that are difficult. The goal of
counseling is to change from pessimistic to optimistic. The difference between
happy people and sad people is their beliefs. If we think differently, we will
also feel differently and act differently."
