Hagerstown graduate presented with Officer Seara Burton and Brev Law Enforcement Scholarship
May 30, 2025 -- Aiden Grover hopes to one day live his dream of creating a safe environment for everyone, serving his community, and making a positive impact as a police officer.

Grover was recently presented with the
Officer Seara Burton and Brev Law Enforcement Scholarship by Reid Health during
the Hagerstown High School Honors Program. The scholarship is a one-time award
of $1,000 given to a graduating high school senior from Wayne County who plans
to pursue a degree or certificate in law enforcement or first response.
With the support of the scholarship, he'll
attend Indiana Tech to pursue a degree in law enforcement, concentrating on
areas such as homeland security, firefighting, protective services, or criminal
justice. He also plans to minor in psychology and eventually earn a master's
degree.
Ryan Williams, Director of EMS, Forensics,
and Trauma Services at Reid — and a Hagerstown alumnus — presented the
scholarship.
Throughout high school, sports taught Grover the
importance of teamwork and perseverance, he said. He was a member of the
football and baseball teams, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and the
National Honor Society. As an athlete, he developed a passion for sports from a
young age, having started playing baseball at age 4.
"I come from a large and loving family with
five siblings," Grover said. "My father is a dedicated police officer, and my
mother is a stay-at-home mom who has always been there for us."
His parents are Andrew and Erin Grover.
Guided by his faith and his father's example,
Grover plans to make a positive impact on his community. He hopes to have a
family of his own, continuing to live a life filled with love, service, and
faith. To get there, he plans to use his strong sense of teamwork, a genuine
desire to help others, and his work ethic. He also believes in the principle
that what you give is what you get.
His combination of determination and
optimism, along with his desire to serve others, is also leading him toward a
career in public service.
"Growing up, I've seen how dedicated my dad
is to protecting our community, and it's inspired me to want to do the same,"
Grover said.
"I believe understanding the psychological aspects of crime can really help in preventing it and ensuring the safety of civilians. I want to make a positive impact and help create a safer environment for everyone." -- Aiden Grover, recipient of the Officer Seara Burton and Brev Law Enforcement Scholarship by Reid Health
The
scholarship honors Officer Burton who was shot in the line of duty on Aug. 10,
2022. Described as a warrior, a hero, and a bright star, she fought for her
life for 39 days before she died on Sept. 19, 2022.
Officer
Burton was a Northeastern High School graduate. She joined RPD in 2018 and went
on to complete the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 2019. She later joined
RPD's K-9 squad with her partner, Brev.
Reid
Health worked with the Wayne County Foundation to establish the endowed
scholarship in Officer Burton's name to honor her selfless sacrifice to protect
the well-being, safety, and way of life of everyone in the community.
