Get a Lung Scan
A lung scan, also known as a CT (computed tomography), uses low dose special equipment to produce images that are far more detailed than a conventional chest X-ray. CT scanning is considered to be a “patient-friendly” procedure because it involves relatively low radiation exposure and is not invasive. The Lung CT scan is a tool used for the detection of lung cancer. The earlier any cancer is detected, the better the chances for treatment and recovery. The scan takes only about 15 minutes.
This screening may benefit you if you:
- Are 55 – 77 years of age
- Have a history of smoking tobacco
- At least 30 “pack-years”
- One “pack-year” is equal to smoking one pack per day for one year; 1 pack = 20 cigarettes.
- Are currently a smoker or have quit smoking within the last 15 years.
- Have had no signs or symptoms of lung cancer
