This is not related to our medical care during the visit~ but I think there should be designated walkways from the large parking lot from the South to the building. There is a stop sign~ but I feel like there's no clearly marked path to cross the main drive to the building. You have to walk diagonally from the lot entrance to the center entrance. It seems pedestrian unfriendly to me~ especially when you know there are always children crossing that drive. Just a thought.
I have 2 children that see Dr. Allen. I always schedule their well check appts SEVERAL months in advance. I'm a working mother and I have to make special plans to leave work and find a substitute teacher to cover my class when I make these appts. At least 5 times in the last 2 years~ your office has called me within the same week of my child's appt to reschedule their well check appt due to Dr. Allen being gone~ having a meeting or taking a vacation. That forces me to have to completely rearrange my schedule and plans. It's extrememy frustrating to say the least. As a matter of fact~ my daughter's well check appts are now done in January despite her birthday being in November because your office couldn't see her the week she was scheduled (around her birthday) and then couldn't reschedule her again until January. It's frustrating for this working mom and very inconsiderate of your patients' time. If I had other options for pediatric in Richmond~ I'd certainly be investigating them.
The wait time was ridiculous for a toddler to be kept in an exam room.
I was over charged for an unnecessary lab test.
Dr Allen can come across as judge mental and if you want patients to be honest it shouldn’t be clear that you’re looking for a particular response and that if a different response is given you’ll be disapproving. Otherwise your patients will just tell you what you want to hear. On the other hand~ she’s very patient and has a great rapport with kids and comes across as genuine and competent.
I understand that my son was given a same day appointment but I called and scheduled at 9am for 12:45pm~ the doctor didn’t even see him until 2:20pm after I approached the nurses station to ask if we had been forgotten about. The nurse that took his vitals was not at all friendly either. Unacceptable- if they didn’t have time to see him they should have said so and I would have gone to urgent care where I would have waited the same amount of time and been treated better.
