Reid opens new infusion center on Connersville campus
April 28, 2022 -- Reid Health is
expanding its oncology treatment options with the opening of the Reid
Connersville Infusion Center this week.
Located on the
third floor of the health system's campus in Connersville at 1941 Virginia
Ave., the infusion center has 10 bays for patients and will offer chemotherapy
and infusion therapy services.
"Our location
on the main campus in Richmond currently cares for a number of residents from
Connersville and Fayette County," said Amy Slonaker, Oncology/Infusion Therapy
Service Line Director. "Opening this new center allows us to provide additional
services to those patients in an easier, more accessible, and convenient
location."
Chemotherapy and infusion therapy are
often part of a cancer patient's comprehensive treatment plan. They involve
administering medication intravenously in a dedicated area that allows friends
and family members to visit with patients while cancer navigators check in
periodically to provide education and support as needed.
"Expanding this service to Connersville is part of the promise we made to the community nearly three years ago when we assumed ownership of the assets of the former Fayette Regional Health System. We continue to look for ways to make investments in the area that will help us fulfill our mission of leading our communities to well-being, one person at a time." -- Misti Foust-Cofield, Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer
The new center
in Connersville will be open three days a week initially on Tuesday, Thursday,
and Friday with hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Patients must be referred there
for chemotherapy and cancer treatment by the providers at Reid Cancer Center.
"Expanding this
service to Connersville is part of the promise we made to the community nearly three
years ago when we assumed ownership of the assets of the former Fayette
Regional Health System," said Misti Foust-Cofield, Vice President/Chief Nursing
Officer for Reid Health.
"We continue to
look for ways to make investments in the area that will help us fulfill our
mission of leading our communities to well-being, one person at a time."
