Reid Health welcomes first baby of 2026
Jan. 1, 2026 -- Cade Lane arrived right on cue for the new year, becoming Reid Health's first baby of 2026 when he was born early New Year's Day.

Cade was born
at 5:18 a.m. Jan. 1, 2026, at 39 weeks and three days.
His parents,
Amanda and Cody Lane of Richmond, Indiana, checked in at 2 a.m. at Reid
Health's Family Birthing Center.
Amanda Lane, a
pharmacist for Reid Health Pharmacy, said she was scheduled to be induced on Friday,
Jan. 2, but Cade arrived earlier than expected.
"It was
surprising," she said. "We weren't expecting a New Year's Day baby. He came
naturally on his own time."
Cade weighed 7
pounds, 14.8 ounces and measured 20 inches long.
Cody Lane said
the couple was looking forward to going home Friday with a mix of excitement
and nervous anticipation.
"Our experience
has been amazing. We're both happy. I'd say those are two pretty good words,"
he said.
Cade joins his
2-year-old brother, Colton, who greeted his new sibling with surprise,
curiosity, and kisses. The family spent New Year's Day snuggling Cade, resting,
and enjoying time together, Amanda Lane said.
