Reid Health receives Primary Stroke Center certification from DNV

May 16, 2023 -- Reid Health has earned certification from DNV as a Primary Stroke Center for the hospital's readiness to handle a full range of stroke-related medical problems.
The certification is based on standards set by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association. According to DNV, organizations that receive the designation address the full spectrum of stroke care -- diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and education -- and establish clear metrics to evaluate outcomes.
"Our teams are committed to providing the best possible stroke care," said Misti Foust-Cofield, Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer for Reid Health. "Dr. Jordan Raynor, Dr. Aaron Wasserman, Stroke Coordinator Alison Swihart, Stroke Clinical Education Specialist Erika Millsaps, and their teams deserve to have a light shined on all the work they've put into this program and everything they do to ensure the health and safety of our patients."
According to the American Stroke Association, stroke is a leading cause of death -- killing nearly 130,000 people each year -- and is a leading cause of serious, long-term adult disability. Because stroke affects blood flow to the brain, rapid and effective treatment can save lives and provide the best chance of limiting the extent of long-term damage.
"Achieving certification shows a commitment to excellence, and it helps demonstrate to the community that Reid is performing at the highest level," said Kelly Proctor, President of DNV Healthcare USA Inc.
