Reid Health again named among nation’s best for specialty care services
Oct. 28, 2025 -- Reid Health is among the top 10% nationwide for a trio of specialty
care services, just a few of the honors for exceptional clinical performance earned
by Reid from Healthgrades, the No. 1 site Americans use when searching for a
doctor or hospital.
Among the latest recognitions are
Specialty Excellence Awards for critical care, pulmonary care, and cardiac
surgery. It's the third straight year Reid has been cited for its critical and
pulmonary care services.
The honors put Reid among Indiana's
best for those same services, ranking top three in the state for critical care
and pulmonary care and top five for cardiology. Reid has been in the state's top three for critical care and pulmonary care for three years straight.
In addition, Reid was rated five stars
for several other specialty care services, including treatment of:
- Stroke (eight years in a row)
- Sepsis (five years)
- Heart failure (four years)
- Pneumonia (four years)
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (three years)
- Gastrointestinal bleed (three years)
- Heart attack (two years)
- Spinal fusion surgery
- Respiratory failure
Reid's achievements are based solely on
patient outcomes. Each year, Healthgrades evaluates risk-adjusted mortality and
complication rates for more than 30 common conditions and procedures at about
4,500 hospitals nationwide to identify the top hospitals in key specialty areas.
"Our patients are why we're here," said
Ben Wells, Reid Health President/CEO. "Everything we do is in service of
providing the very best care possible to those who trust us to make a
difference in their lives.
"We have a team full of talented,
compassionate individuals who ensure we live our mission to lead our
communities to well-being, one person at a time."
Through easy-to-understand, objective
measures of hospital performance, Healthgrades empowers patients with the
information they need to find a hospital that excels in their procedure or
condition.
As performance gaps persist between the
nation's highest- and lowest-achieving facilities, seeking care at a top
program has never been more important. Healthgrades' 2026 analysis revealed if
all hospitals - as a group - performed similarly to five-star hospitals during
the 2022-2024 study period, on average, 230,466
lives could have been saved and 156,797 complications could have been avoided.
