October Ambassador ‘shines like no other’

Danielle Lawson, Environmental Services
Oct. 6, 2025 -- When a Reid team member's mother-in-law became gravelly ill, there was Danielle Lawson to lift the family's spirits.
"She shines from the time she greets you, while she works, and even as she exits," the co-worker said. "She consistently asked, 'Is there anything more I can do for any of you?' Her heart and effort emitted love, kindness, and compassion.
"Danielle shone like no other I met during my mother-in-law's
lengthy stay!"
And that's why Lawson is Reid Health's Ambassador for the
month of October.
Lawson has been a member of Reid's Environmental Services
team for 13 years. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, she made her way to
Richmond and Reid while searching for a better future for her three children.
"Reid has always been very generous with hours and
assistance to make my children's lives better with scheduling and financial
opportunities that allow me to meet their needs and give them the things they
love," Lawson said.
"I've loved working with the nurses, NCAs, students, food
and nutrition, and, of course, my fellow environmental team members. I have a
great amount of fun interacting with everyone and telling jokes and laughing."
Co-workers say Lawson "is an incredibly hard worker with a
positive attitude, kind heart, and a genuine willingness to help where she can."
"What sets Danielle apart is she always checks with the
nursing staff to see if she can support us in any way," one person said. "She'll
grab supplies from the supply room, get us drinks for the patients, and much
more. If the task is outside of her scope, she'll find someone who can help,
ensuring nothing is overlooked or falls through the cracks."
When she's not working, Lawson enjoys spending time with
her sons -- Justin, Sean, and Jeremiah -- watching anime and reading manga. They
also love being outdoors, "enjoying nature and it's discoveries."
"Seeing a better tomorrow for everyone is what keeps me
going in life," Lawson said. "I worked almost five years on 5 East and really
enjoyed cleaning patient rooms and working with the young staff members who've
come through the hospital.
"It's always given me a lot of hope to see young people
starting their lives."
"Her dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic make a
difference every single day," a co-worker said.
"She truly defines what it means to be an Ambassador, and I can't think of anyone more deserving of this recognition."
