November Ambassador ‘leaves lasting impression of warmth and helpfulness’
Tabitha Johnson, Information Technology
Nov. 3, 2025 -- One day recently, Tabitha Johnson made her way around Reid Health's North Complex facility handing out a little surprise to co-workers.
The laminated cards featured various words of affirmation, including one that read, "There are people in this world who make things better wherever they go. Thank you for being one of them."
"I've heard for many years throughout my life you never
really know what someone else is going through, and if I can give one person
one positive moment, then that's what I'm going to do whenever I can," said
Reid Health's Ambassador for the month of November.
"Everyone needs to know someone is thinking about them. I
want everyone to have a smile on their face for just a minute when they've a
bad day or when they've been yelled at for something that might not have been
within their control."
Johnson has worked at Reid for four years as an
administrative assistant in the Information Technology department. She's
usually the first face co-workers see when they arrive at North Complex,
sitting at the front desk.
"Her constant smile and positive attitude brighten our
workplace and set the tone for everyone who walks through the door," one
colleague said. "She leaves a lasting impression of warmth and helpfulness that
reflects the culture we aspire to maintain.
"In a building where needs are many and varied, Tabitha
goes above and beyond every single day. She's the steady, reliable presence
that helps departments run smoothly, and she does it all with grace and good
humor."
A native of Monticello, Kentucky, Johnson moved to Richmond
with her family when she was 16. Today, she lives in Selma, Indiana, with her
husband, Lee Holmes, and their four children -- Lucy, Mason, Molly, and
Charlotte.
"My why will always be to know my kids will see I did my
best and that means they can as well," Johnson said. "All four of them need to
see and understand no matter how hard our lives are we can always keep going
and doing better."
When she's not working, Johnson enjoys traveling (this year
alone she's been to Canada numerous times, Wisconsin, Kentucky, and even Paris)
and reading (she's read 318 books on her Kindle since June).
"Working here at Reid has been so different from any job I've
ever had," she said. "They allow me to be available for important moments with
my family, and they've shown the community is important to them. That's something
I can stand behind every day!"
"Tabitha might not provide direct care to our patients, but she helps take care of our employees and all other staff within our building," a co-worker said. "She makes sure everyone feels special."
