
Nominate a physician for the 2025 Rhoads Humanity in Medicine Award

July 8, 2025 -- If you know of a Reid Health physician who should be
recognized for their commitment to their patients and the community, now's the
time when you can help them receive the acclaim they deserve.
Nominations for the 2025 Paul S. Rhoads Humanity in
Medicine Award can be made now through Sunday, July 27. To submit a physician
for consideration, use the form here.
The award is East Central
Indiana's most prestigious medical honor and has been given yearly since 1983.
Named after its first honoree -- the late Paul S. Rhoads, MD -- the Humanity in Medicine Award honors the
memory of Dr. Rhoads for his service to patients and medicine. He was the
founding director of Reid Health's Medical Education Department and helped
organize the hospice program and the Wayne County adult clinic for the
indigent.
Any physician recommended for recognition
must be a full-time member of the Reid Health medical staff and demonstrate one
or more of the following traits and achievements:
- Has a combined commitment to clinical quality (in medical knowledge, discernment, and practice) along with genuine compassion, sensitivity, and a caring attitude in dealing with patients, patients' families, and colleagues, AND/OR
- Has been a leader and/or initiator of programs and services resulting in improvement in quality of health or life within Reid's service area, AND/OR
- Has been consistently inspirational, encouraging, and helpful to colleagues, hospital staff, patients, and others in efforts to prevent or to alleviate illness or injury, and to enhance quality of healthcare in Reid's service area
Advanced practice providers such as physician assistants,
nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, audiologists, and podiatrists as
well as previous
winners aren't eligible to be nominated.
The 2025 Paul S. Rhoads Humanity in Medicine Award will be presented at a special event for physicians on Thursday, Oct. 30.
