New event from Reid Health Foundation aims to bring awareness to cancer care, prevention
March 13, 2023 -- For just about
every shade of the rainbow, there's a type of cancer associated with it.
It's well-known
pink stands for breast cancer, but there's also orange for leukemia, white for
lung cancer, emerald green for liver, light blue for prostate, and dark blue
for colon. On and on it goes around the color wheel.
A new annual event
from the Reid Health Foundation takes inspiration from that collection of
colors, all in the name of bringing awareness to and raising funds for the
prevention and treatment of all kinds of cancer.
"Kaleidoscope -- Let's Have a Ball" will take place on Saturday, March 18 at the First Bank
Kuhlman Center on the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Richmond. In addition to
music, dancing, and catered food, the evening will feature personal stories and
shine a light on the importance of preventive screenings.
"It seems
cancer has affected us all in one way or another. It's not just one type of
cancer but the full spectrum," said Jason Troutwine, Reid Health Vice President
and Foundation President.
"This evening
will provide an opportunity for us to come together, talk about the importance
of screenings, and raise important funds to provide additional resources for
our patients and their families. This event is going to be fun -- but it's fun
with a purpose."
A Ginger Gray
production, the event wouldn't be possible without the support of the Foundation's
