Hundreds turn out for early look at new Reid Health Connersville
Reid Health President/CEO Ben Wells talks with tour participants during the open house event for the new Reid Health Connersville campus.
Jan. 31, 2026 -- Cold January temperatures couldn't keep nearly 700 people from coming out today to get a look at Connersville's first new healthcare campus in more than 100 years.
The new Reid Health Connersville facility opened its doors
for a private opening ceremony followed by a public open house.
Wave after wave of curious area residents took part in
90-minute guided tours to see what the state-of-the-art building will have to
offer when patient care begins there soon.
"Nearly six years ago, we made a promise to this community:
That it would have high-quality, sustainable healthcare in Fayette County for
many years to come," said Ben Wells, Reid Health President/CEO. "In the time
since, we've been hard at work developing and building a campus that fulfills
that commitment.
"Our team will have a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility
that reflects their professionalism, competence, and commitment to caring for
the community day after day. We're excited to unveil this new campus and begin
seeing patients here soon."
The two-story, 106,715-square-foot facility at 2500 Park
Road will be the home to an emergency department with an onsite helipad -- Fayette County's first in nearly 30 years -- as well as primary care offices and
12 specialty care practices, two of which are new to Connersville.
Outpatient laboratory and radiology services also will be
available as will Infusion Therapy.
Reid worked with construction partners Skanska
USA Building Inc., Shook Construction, and architectural firm HKS as well as several
contractors on the $100 million project.
"Reid Health's commitment to the Connersville
community is truly remarkable and leading the construction of this healing
environment has been an honor for our team," said Bryan Homan, Senior Project
Manager, Midwest Region for Skanska USA Building Inc.
"The strong partnerships developed through
the design and construction process are exceptional thanks to Reid's
leadership. We're proud to help deliver a facility that will serve generations
to come."

"Building this facility
required thoughtful planning, innovative solutions, and a shared vision
with Reid Health and our partner, Shook Construction," said Dan Balow, Senior
Vice President - Account Manager on the project for Skanska. "The result
is a state-of-the art environment designed to support high-quality care and
long-term operational resilience. We're thrilled to celebrate this
milestone with the community."
The new building will serve as a replacement
campus for the current one at 1941 Virginia Ave., a complex that represents 100
years' worth of construction and renovation projects that can't easily be
remade to meet the needs of a modern healthcare facility.
"This new facility is more than just a
building. It represents our commitment to ensuring quality healthcare remains
accessible to all our patients, from the youngest to the oldest. It stands as a
testament to what we can achieve when we work together toward a common goal,"
said Mark Harrington, Chair of the Reid Health Governing Board.
"We're not just opening doors to a new
facility; we're opening doors to better health outcomes, improved access to
care, and a brighter future for the community."
