Free head and neck cancer screenings offered May 28 at Reid Health

May 19, 2025 -- Reid Health Rehabilitation Services, Reid ENT, and Reid Oncology Associates are offering free head and neck cancer screenings from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, at Reid Health in Lingle Grand Hall, 1100 Reid Parkway, Richmond.
The screening is painless and takes about 10 minutes. No
appointment is necessary, and walk-ins are welcome.
Screenings can help detect cancers of the mouth, nose,
throat, and voice box, diseases that claim nearly 13,000 U.S. lives each year.
Early detection improves survival. Tobacco, alcohol, and HPV are major risk
factors, with HPV-linked oral cancers rising in younger adults.
Warning signs include neck lumps, persistent hoarseness,
mouth sores, trouble swallowing, unexplained weight loss, ear pain, or coughing
up blood. Anyone with symptoms should seek medical care immediately rather than
wait for a screening.
