December Ambassador’s faith drives her calling to serve others

Meggan Moore, speech-language pathologist, Rehabilitation Services
Dec. 2, 2022 -- Meggan Moore sees her work as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) at Reid Health as an opportunity for ministry, a chance to serve others through stressful or uncomfortable situations in life.
"We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and this is the perfect environment to implement that calling," Reid's December Ambassador said. "Being part of a rehabilitation team is extremely rewarding. Working as an SLP, I'm able to see people regain these abilities and return to activities they enjoy."
Moore has been a member of Reid's Rehabilitation Services team for eight years. During that time, she's taken inspiration from her co-workers.
"I'm very fortunate to work with amazing people who are talented and caring. They create a positive atmosphere that is contagious! When you see your colleagues facilitating change in a patient's life, it's very inspiring and motivates you to do your best as well," Moore said.
"I've had the chance to learn from extremely talented and caring therapists, managers, nurses, and doctors. Seeing them use their gifts to help others is uplifting."
Co-workers say they, in turn, are inspired by Moore's example.
"Meggan has a phenomenal work ethic and goes above and beyond, but if you ask her, she would say she's just doing her job," one person said. "She is creative and very encouraging to patients, families, and staff, with a way of explaining things to patients that they can understand. She treats all around her like family."
"Meggan brings a burst of energy to the room. She has a radiant smile that shines through her mask," another co-worker said. "She has the ability through her smile to talk you into about anything. With her good sense of humor and her jokes, you know it's going to be a good day when she's working."

Moore lives in New Madison, Ohio, with her husband, Brandon, and their two children -- Gwyneth, 10, and Ivy, 8. The family enjoys playing games, taking hikes, going on bike rides, and baking together.
"Often when I first meet a patient after them being admitted to the hospital, they may have difficulty speaking or eating, things we take for granted but are crucial for socializing or interacting with our loved ones," Moore said.
"Knowing the situation my patient is in could just as easily have happened to myself or my loved ones, I try to provide the care I would want my family or friends to receive."
