Challenge on: Sign up for Reid Health Foundation’s first obstacle Adventure Course
May 14, 2025 -- The inaugural Reid
Health Foundation Adventure Course begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, at
the Indiana University East Cross Country Course, behind Hayes Hall at 2325
Chester Blvd., Richmond.
This
family-friendly, self-paced, three-mile obstacle course features more than 12 exciting
challenges and is suitable for all fitness levels.
The event will
serve as a fundraiser for Reid's Athletic Training Program, which provides an athletic
trainer at no cost to nine area high schools and IU East.
Jason
Troutwine, Reid Health Vice President/Foundation President, said the new event is
designed to celebrate wellness and offer families and the community a day of
fun and fitness.
"The Adventure
Course is a perfect example of how Reid Health brings families together around
fun, fitness, and a great cause," he said. "We're proud to offer an event that
promotes wellness at every level, whether you're climbing over obstacles or
cheering from the sidelines, all while supporting the health of
student-athletes in our region."
Individuals,
families, and teams can sign up at reidhealth.org/AdventureCourse. Registration is $20 for adults and $10
for children. Children must be at least 10 years old to participate, and those under
12 must be accompanied by an adult on the course.
Younger family
members and fans can enjoy the spirit of the event, even if they're not quite
ready for the full course. A separate inflatable course will be available for
children ages 10 and under to climb, bounce, and play. Children must be
accompanied by an adult.
The Adventure
Course is designed to test strength, agility, and endurance, with each obstacle
offering a fun and unique experience. As part of the adventure, participants
will get wet and muddy as they navigate through the course.
On the morning
of the event, participants will begin the course at 10 a.m., and registration
begins at 9 a.m. Start times will be in 15-minute waves by self-determined
ability and pace to avoid bottlenecking.
Run or walk to
the finish line to collect the Adventure Course race shirt, finisher medals,
and post-race snacks.
The Fan Zone will
feature a variety of fun activities, snacks, a Kona Ice truck, local vendors,
and sponsor partners.
"We invite
everyone to gather their friends, family, and colleagues for a fun-filled day
of teamwork, excitement, and a shared commitment to health and wellness,"
said Angela Cline, Director for Reid Health Foundation.
"It's a
great way to get active, support a meaningful cause, and make lasting memories
together."
Reid's Athletic
Trainers play an important role in injury prevention and management, provide
immediate care and emergency response, and offer rehab and recovery programs
while educating student-athletes.
