Bethel Cardiology of Greenville was named the Reid Health Ambulatory Care Practice of the Year for specialty care.

Reid Health’s fifth annual celebration of its top-performing outpatient practices featured a familiar winner, a first-time honoree, and a new name for the award.

Staff gathered May 29 at Forest Hills Country Club in Richmond to recognize Reid’s Ambulatory Care Practices of the Year, previously known as the Reid Health Physician Associates (RHPA) Practices of the Year.

“Each year, we recognize one primary care practice and one specialty care practice with our Practice of the Year Award to celebrate teams that demonstrate exceptional performance and commitment to patient-centered care,” said Billie Kester, Vice President/Ambulatory Care & Services Lines for Reid.

“These awards highlight practices that consistently deliver outstanding experiences for patients while achieving strong operational and clinical outcomes.”

Reid Internal Medicine earned the Reid Health Ambulatory Care Practice of the Year honor for primary care.

Awards each year recognize practices that do well across several categories – quality, patient experience, and financial for primary care and patient experience and financial for specialty care, with overall winners then named for primary and specialty care.

“Recognition like this matters because it affirms what our teams do every day — show up for patients with skill, compassion, and consistency,” said Rohit Bawa, MD, Chair of the Network Oversight Council at Reid.

“Behind every strong outcome score is a front desk team that gets patients in the door, a clinical staff that builds real relationships, and providers who hold themselves to a high standard even when no one is watching. These awards remind us excellence in ambulatory care is a team sport, and Reid Health is fortunate to have practices that take that seriously.”

Reid Internal Medicine earned the overall and quality honors for primary care while Reid Pediatric & Internal Medicine (patient experience) and Reid Health Geriatrics (financial) also were recognized.

“For the second year in a row, Reid Internal Medicine earned the overall award due to the patient-focused approach to care by the providers and support staff,” said Kelli Goodwin, Senior Director – Primary Care for Reid.

“This entire department believes in providing easy access and quality care for all patients, and it’s truly a team effort.”

On the specialty side, Bethel Cardiology of Greenville earned the overall award for the first time. It also earned top marks in the financial category while Outpatient Behavioral Health took home the award for patient experience.

“For many years now, Bethel Cardiology has been one of the higher-scoring practices in the organization. Their ability to maintain this success and ultimately win the award this year can be credited to their fierce focus on their patient throughput, access, experience, and efficiency,” said Reid’s Cardiovascular Service Line Director, Tyler Evans.

“Dr. Henry Chong has built a culture that prides itself on being an integral part of the community they serve. Every decision made is focused on the patients first.”

Kester said the decision to change the name of the awards was done “to better reflect the growth and evolution of our ambulatory network.”

“As our organization has expanded to include both traditional outpatient physician practices and hospital-based outpatient departments, the updated name more accurately represents the diverse care settings and teams that make up our ambulatory services,” she said.

“The change recognizes the collective commitment across all ambulatory locations to delivering exceptional patient experiences, high-quality care, and strong operational performance.”
