Powerful stories highlight free Men's Health Event

Let’s face it: Many men don’t take good care of their health.
Men in the U.S. live about five years fewer than women on average.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says only 62% of men reported seeing a healthcare provider in the past six months.
About 50% of men avoid annual physicals and preventive care, according to a Cleveland Clinic survey.
That’s why Reid Health is hosting a special evening during Men’s Health Month in June.
The free Men’s Health Event will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on June 11 at Lingle Grand Hall on Reid’s main campus in Richmond at 1100 Reid Parkway.
Urology specialist Aaron Johnson, MD, Reid’s 2025 Rhoads Humanity in Medicine Award winner, will be the keynote speaker.
He’ll be followed by a powerful panel discussion featuring men talking about their personal healthcare journeys, including:
- Larry Harter – Heart patient and WATCHMAN recipient
- Doug Macias – addiction recovery
- Auntonio Brown – living with chronic disease
- Mark Broeker – mental health
- Jeremy Duncan – living with cancer
Light refreshments will be available, and Reid Health teams and community vendors also will be on hand with helpful resources and information.
All – men and women – are welcome. RSVP is required by calling (765) 983-3000 ext. 4676 or by emailing sharon.harlin@reidhealth.org.
Be sure to bring a friend, your brother, your husband, or your dad. You’ll be glad you did.
