Student applications and job shadowing

Reid Health Medical Education offers students clinical rotations and job shadowing. Advanced Practice Provider (APP) students interested in a clinical placement should fill out the form below by clicking the link. Please note applications will be processed in 7-10 business days. You must also complete the Pledge to Confidentiality form also listed below.

You must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Employed by Reid Health or
  • Student of a local university
At this time we are unable to provide APP student hours for women's health and pediatrics.


Job shadowing allows you to observe a professional in action and learn about company culture and standard practices. This gives you a better idea of a typical day in the profession.

Once submitting one of the applications please fill out our Pledge to Confidentiality form. This form is required for all applicants of any area. Failure to submit this form with your application could result in a processing delay.

Medical Students

Reid Health participates in the training of third and fourth year medical students from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience (KUMCB). In a partnership with Indiana University East, Reid provides medical clerkships for Indiana University School of Medicine and the Terre Haute IU School of Medicine Rural Medical Education Program. We will also consider on a limited basis, medical students from other accredited US medical schools for elective rotations.

We offer a limited number of two/four week electives in Neurology, Psychiatry, ENT, Allergy, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Peripheral Vascular Surgery, Urology,Pathology, Oncology, Palliative Care, Endocrinology, Nephrology and Administrative Medicine. Two week Auditioning clerkships for Reid Health's Family Medicine Residency program are available for qualified fourth year osteopathic medical students. Contact the Medical Education Department for availability and to schedule. Contact info at bottom of page below.

Reid Health works with Indiana EIAHEC's Indiana University School of Medicine 3rd Year Family Medicine Clerkships. For more information contact The East Indiana Health Education Center at: http://www.eiahec.org/

For over 50 years, Reid Health has participated in the Indiana University Medical Education program for medical students that have completed their first year of medical school, but not yet started their second year. At Reid it is a 6 week program and is limited to six students. Room and board is provided as well as a small stipend. The student must be either an Indiana resident or attend an Indiana medical school. A limited number of third year osteopathic medical students from KUMCB are at Reid for their entire third year of medical school.
